   I have a couple trail cams on my property but it’s fairly big so I can always use more. I like that this cam comes with a solar panel, I always end up buying one for my cams anyway so this saved me an extra purchase. I was especially interested in the 4g capability of this cam. I downloaded the app and set it up with minimal issues. For me personally I don’t really care for the operation of the app or maybe it’s just the 4g function. To me it seems somewhat slow and finicky. There are times when I have had to restart the app to get it to function properly. I don’t think it’s an issue with my phone (less than a year old and all my other apps work fine). I know I could just use it as a regular trail cam where I have to go out and pull the SD card but I set this cam up in a somewhat difficult to reach area (why I wanted the 4g) so it’s not something I want to have to physically check every week. One other thing I’m not to fond of is that they put the access panel in the side of the cam. Maybe it will never be an issue but to me it always seems to be work best in the bottom for preventing moisture intrusion. In the one picture I have the solar panel plugged in through the fully open flap, that’s just when I was doing the initial set up inside the house.

   This trail cam’s been chillin’ behind my garage since January and it’s been catching everything from deer to nosy raccoons. I set it up once, synced it with the app, and it’s been feeding me 4K footage like it’s filming a nature doc.

   The solar panel keeps it alive without me needing to recharge, and the motion detection is sharp—no long delays, no false alarms every time wind blows. Plus, the night vision’s legit. I got clear footage of a fox creeping through the yard at 2AM like it had a script.

   The casing feels solid—rain, frost, and even a snow day didn’t faze it. Still dry, still recording. And the wide view angle means I’m not missing stuff just out of frame. Definitely not one of those cams where you check later and see a blurry tail leaving.

   If you’re trying to monitor critters, visitors, or just wanna know who keeps knocking over your trash cans, this cam’s a quiet little beast.

   Very good video quality, not the best but very good.

   This camera features the typical motion-activated camera and night-vision IR illuminators. However the stand-out feature of this model is the integrated 4G communication. This removes the need to visit the camera to retrieve pictures and enables alerts right to your phone.

   A SIM card is included with a month’s service pre-loaded. Extending service requires additional payments ranging between $14.90 for a month of basic service to $229.9 for a year of the “enjoy” package or $139.9 for a year of the basic service.

   The camera does not appear to be carrier locked and I successfully used a Google Fi data only SIM instead of the included SIM.

   Note that there is no Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity. If not using the 4G interface, the only way to retrieve pictures is by removing the SD card.

   Storage is via an SD card. Accessing that through 4G is a bit slow but works without any additional fees. A cloud subscription is available for another additional charge with options ranging from $1.99/month for the base plan to $39.99 for 360 days of the max plan. A trial is included. Using the cloud makes for a smoother experience than relying on just the SD card.

   A solar panel is included and it appears sufficient that the camera will never need charging if the panel can get good light. Note that the solar panel is connected with a simple wire. While this gives a lot of flexibility in mounting, it may be attractive to critters. I’ve had several similar cables destroyed in the past so armor them now.

   Uses the UCOM app on the app store. Tested with an S24U.

   Initial/top-up charging is via a USB-C port. A USB-A to USB-C cable is included and you can use pretty much any USB power source. (5V at up to 1,100mA.) USB PD is triggered so you can use a USB-C power supply with a USB-C to USB-C cable.

   I’m optimistic about this camera, but won’t be using it until next season. It looks well made and I like the solar panel power source. I’m wondering how easy it will be to find a spot I want to use the camera but that also has access to the sun. It came with accessories to attach it to a tree. The price was tough to beat, but I wonder whether it will stay at that price point.
