   I used to carry around a 90MM portable telescope but this is much quicker to use , more durable AND clearer. the sealed design means no dust inside. the zoom means no multiple lenses, the fine focus means its easy to focus on whatever you are looking at. A small tripod like that which is included is great if you are on a bench but for hiking I like to keep a monopod and steady it with that or a full sized tripod. Yo are likely NOT going to be bale to use this freehand. That’s not what is was designed for. I have pulled in animals from 100 yards away. I also have used it to see crates on the moon, Moons of Jupiter and even the rings of Saturn. Don’t expect textbook images from a consumer telescope – even one twice the size of this, but you can see enough to see what you are looking at.

   I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of this spotting scope. This category is dominated by the big brand name optic companies so it is nice to see a smaller brand produce a well made good performing scope. I used this optic at the range yesterday at distances up to 150 yards. The focus dials in just right and produces and good quality image, the eye piece is soft and comfortable. The included tripod looks like cheap thin metal but it performed just fine and kept the scope in place while I jumped back and forth from shot to checking the scope. There are no printed directions in the box, these aren’t difficult things to operate but something would be nice. I had trouble with the phone mount but quickly tossed it aside because I don’t really need it. The included carrying bag is good enough. Overall I am very happy to have this as part of my range equipment.

   Pros: 1.) Adjustment knobs work, and the scope does provide a decently clear image… that’s about it.

   Cons: 1.) My biggest irritation with this scope is that the magnification is nowhere close to what is advertised. It’s closer to 4-18x magnification. 2.)The field of view is very narrow, even at minimum magnification and especially at maximum magnification. 3.) The tripod is cheaply made and unstable. 4.) The cellphone mount doesn’t really work because the camera is unable to focus, due to the limited visibility. 5.) The clarity isn’t terrible, but it is slightly dark.

   Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this, even for the price. A halfway decent set of binoculars would do much better than this scope. I have a rifle with a 6-18x scope. When I used this scope side by side with my rifle scope, the maximum magnification of this scope was the same as my rifle scope. However, my rifle scope has a much wider field of view, and a brighter sight picture than this scope. So basically, this was a complete waste of money.
