   The 970-Target StandPro is perfect for this 70 year old shooter that doesn’t have a pick-up truck to haul pre-built DIY target stands. The stand, plus 2 – 72″ 2×4’s for the vertical posts and 2 – 48″ 2×4’s for the legs are perfect for my needs. All fits into my FORD Explorer. It takes about 2 – 3 minutes to assemble and attach the target. I highly recommend purchasing 2 of the 987-Competition Sihouette Mount Brackets to hold the paper target to the uprights. I purchased 2 – 8 ft 2×4’s, cut to 72″ for the vertical posts and 2 – pre-cut 48″ 2×4’s for the legs.

   Well, when I received the target stand and started to set it up. There was something backwards with it, it was not put together right. The spike for the ground would not screw in because it was up against the metal part that holds the 2×4. It’s because they sent two parts that don’t match. So I had to flip it around and grind off 2 little bars that cover one side of the holes, that hold the 2×4 to get it to work. The ground spike on the one side was hard to screw in, because that wasn’t the side it was supposed to be to go in. Had to do it because it’s not the right part. I got it to work, should get some money off, because they sent me metal and then I had to build it, to get it to work. It’s a target stand. No big deal, it’s going to take some rounds. It don’t have to be pretty. Just do better on assembly. That’s basically how the world works now. I got your money, so who cares about your product..

   Overall solid quality – they can definitely take a shot. That said, one of the stand offs broke its weld with finger tightening – I mean I have an okay grip but not that strong! Also, to note, the 2×4’s mount vertical (not flat) which means you can’t use stand spring clamps to hold your targets (I am fast growing tired of staples and defaulting to cheap chinese spring clamps) I can see the logic (less surface area/smaller profile = less likely to take a hit) but if I had to do it over I’d be looking for a different option. Not sure I’d buy again but I don’t regret it….does it’s job, overall is solid, just not 10/10.
