   Safe was returned. Have to wake safe before code or finger print can be used which is no good when trying to access your gun in a hurry in an emergency situation. Safe door only open half way then you have to open it the rest of the way with your hand before accessing your gun.

   Ok — PSA time — if you don’t have one of these or a LOCKED gun safe, get one. Responsible gun owners don’t leave firearms laying around. Now, with that out of the way, the pistol safe I received is nicely made with reasonably accurate instructions. Just make sure that when you’re inserting the battery holder into the swinging battery door, you line up the notches (circled in red under the large black arrow) with the notch in the door. Also, the diagram seems to show the battery holder reversed — the large contacts need to go in first. Once you get the batteries installed, programming is pretty easy — press the program button for 4 seconds until the keypad flashes and beeps and then enter your PIN. Follow the same steps to enter your finger print(s) — just note that the instructions say to hold the program button for 5 seconds, but that gets it dangerously close to erasing all stored finger prints (holding it for 6 seconds). The backup keys provided with the unit look a lot like Ford ignition keys, with squiggly grooves on both sides rather than notches along one edge. In use, all of the methods for opening the box seem to work well. I chose to turn off the confirmation beeps to keep it quieter during an emergency. Just note that the box makes a pronounced “clunk” when unlocking and an internal light will come on when the lid is opened. Overall, it’s a great addition to any gun owner’s safety equipment and can help keep firearms out of the hands of kids and/or criminals.

   Excellent gun safe The only problem I have with it. Is it does not have a wire that you can hooked to something? I give it. It does have the back bolts, if you want to secure to a wall. But if you want it out and about we’re on a table, you need something to secure it to, so you need a wire. Otherwise I love the functions. Is it is a better upgrade. Then the one I had before.

   While cheap price, seems like a strong metal box. I have two of them. The wake then finger print can be slow. My biggest complaint is that while moving this box my gun must have bumped the program button to where it broke off and I haven’t found a way to get it back in the hole or connected to the inside board. Of course I already forgot the code to it cause it’s just 1-6 numbers. But I can’t reprogram it. Will have to use actual key and fingerprints only now which defeats the purpose of the number keys. But also won’t be able to program prints or numbers
