   I can’t speak to longevity until its been in use for awhile, so I’m withholding a star. So far, however, I’d say this is a good lock. I have two safes and the button format is different between them. That makes for fast, muscle-memory access in the dark difficult. This layout is the same as the typical 10-key calculator, keyboard number set, or push button phone. Hey, it was the cat’s meow when it replaced the rotary and believe me, I remember both vividly. Ok, that said, love that this also has a key option. I’ll put the keys in the other safe, replace the keypad on this one, so they’re the same, and away we go. Bumps in the night get the same welcome no matter which part of the house I’m in.

   This is an impressive replacement for the lock on a medium to large sized safe. I tried to install this on a small gun safe and the process was very difficult because the available space was small. But I managed and things are working well. This item has enough flexibility to work for most any situation.
