This is mounted and mostly hidden, but easy to get to. I really like how fast it deploys with the finger print.
Speaking of finger print, it was a pain to set up, but now, with the key, pin & finger print, I have quick access and feel safe when the little one is around.

These are how under desk or night stand safes should be made. They are not made to protect your gun from thieves but to protect you from thieves via easy access.

For the cost, the sturdiness of this vault is excellent. Setup of fingerprint access and digital code access is straightforward, for the most part, after reading the manual.
The most challenging aspect of setup is locating the ‘Setting’ button. It is inside the vault underneath the access code buttons and fingerprint window. That means the vault must be opened by using the factory default code to gain access to the interior of the vault where w ‘Setting’ button is located.
Another observation is that the unit is a bit wide to fit between the seat and console of smaller vehicles. It might fit between the seat and console of a large pickup truck, but not any sedan of which I am aware. It is great for bedside or home office, etc., however.
