   I’ve been running dozens of game cams for ages, so this is going to be a brutal review. To begin with, this is a red glow camera, not a no glow as advertised. That means it’s unsuitable for surveillance as anyone that triggers it in the dark will see the red flash. A lot of folks use red glow cams for scouting game, I personally only use no glow cams, so it’s not a cam I would use for that purpose either. Trigger speed isn’t great. Mounted this on the same tree I’ve been running a legacy cam to watch a problematic traffic area. The other cam could do eight shot rapid-fire and have a vehicle in all the shots. This cam could only capture the slower moving vehicles, and sometimes then only get them in two of three frames, any faster vehicles resulted in all empty pics. It captured no vehicles at night, though it did get pics of me when I walked up to it after dark to see if it was no glow. It doesn’t have the megapixels it claims. Anybody that knows game cams knows a lot of manufacturers inflate their MP ratings by using interpolation (basically inserting extra pixels). I attached two pics to this review. One is my legacy cam set at 8MP, the other is the Crenova at 12MP. Though the Crenova does have a wider filed of view, you will see that both color and detail are very washed out despite the “higher” MP rating. The cyclist is at almost the same distance in both photos, but with the Crenova he seems much further away and has much less detail despite its original file being six times larger (just over 2MB compared to 13.2MB). A night shot of me walking up to the cam was very fuzzy, even with me walking slowly and being close to the cam. Setup: Mostly straightforward, but annoying. Minimal settings compared to a lot of other cams, and the screen has a strange habit of flashing (with the cam making a clicking noise) while you’re going through the setup menu. Not sure why, but the screen flashing is hard on the eyes, so I wound up having to hold it at an angle away from me while going through the setup menu to avoid eye strain. The case seems sturdy enough, but the latches aren’t all that tight holding the camera closed, so I’d be concerned with water getting inside. Its nice that they included a Micro-SD card, but it seems to be very old as it transferred at one third to one quarter the speed of the SDHC card I use in my other cam. Some folks might enjoy it for recreational use, but for surveillance or serious big game hunting this one is a no-go.

   I have a Crenova trail cam that is about 5 or 6 years old and has never failed me. But I was always a bit grumpy over the difficulty in pushing the menu, etc button, and also struggled with the attachment design as it was cumbersome. Worst feature was getting access to the memory card. I am delighted to tell you that Crenova solved every one of these “issues” in this version of the camera. Once I put it out on the sewit feeder I will update the picture and video quality, although I expect no issues. My next camera will be another Crenova.

   Oct 2024 Update: The cam took good photos and had been operating as it should. I checked it today and the batteries had died. So I loaded a new set and the cam wouldn’t work. I brought it home, tried more batteries and no go. I then tested the batteries and they were Dead DEAD. Trail cam batteries turn off the cam below 1.3v to 1.4v, the batteries in this cam were WAY under 1v. Meaning, there is a short or ??? in the cam and new batteries didn’t fix the cam. I have adjusted my review from 5 stars to 3 stars. It still took good pics but died WAY too soon. Late August 2024 Original Review: The day this cam arrived I set it up and put it out in the woods. I set it to its highest resolution with all other settings factory and used the SD card that came with this unit. I allowed the trail cam to soak for 5 weeks and received 308 photos. Each photo is roughly 12mb. Overall, this cam works very well. Like all cams, it does produce some false pics from blowing vegetation, fireflies, etc… But not too bad and better than other cams I have. Picture quality is reasonable. It tends to blow out the highlights at times and other times the quality is very good and occasionally… really bad/grainy. But for what this is, I could always tell what was what. Deer are easy to figure out, raccoons are simple, opossums are sometimes difficult to tell for sure, squirrels are hit and miss. Anything moving at a fast walk is blurry, day or night. Photos Shown: The first photo named 3584×2016 (which I downsized to 50% and set the quality to produce a 1mb pic) is right at dusk with the cam is shooting in its night mode. If you notice, you can see way up into the woods, like a day photo and everything is clear. The second night photo named Resized to 1434×806 at 670kb (which was strictly resized to a really small pic while retaining the quality level) has very good detail of the two fawns but lacks much depth. This is typical for this cam and I believe if I tilt it up some, the reach would be far better. Last photo during daylight named 7168×4032 at 1mb ( The 7168×4032 is the cam’s resolution when set at max. I left the photos size and pulled its quality level down to about 8% of original in order to make a 1mb photo) it is still showing excellent details. See the deer in the background and also notice the depth into the woods. In summary, the trail cam worked without issue AND it has gone through at least 5 MEGA storms, some with fierce winds and massive downpours. It has not missed a beat, the batteries are holding and I expect this cam to go the long haul. It’s very easy to set up with a menu that’s intuitive and the build quality appears to be very good.    I’ve been really impressed with the Crenova Trail Game Camera! The 4K video and 48MP photos are amazing for capturing wildlife, and it snaps shots super fast—under 0.1 seconds. Nighttime images are clear, thanks to the infrared night vision.

   Setup was a breeze, and the compact design means I can place it anywhere. The 130° wide-angle lens gives a great view of the area. It’s held up well in all kinds of weather, too.

   I had a bit of trouble with nighttime clarity at first, but tweaking the settings helped a lot. Overall, this camera is a solid choice for anyone into wildlife watching or needing a good monitoring tool. Highly recommend!

   I had this up for about 8 weeks and never got a picture although the batteries got low. I reset the system to factory except for adding the password and everything works now. Pictures taken in daylight are good, but the real action comes at night and the pictures are just not as sharp as my other cameras. That said, it was still possible to make out the animals which included multiple bobcats, coyote and armadillo and even some sandhill cranes. I will go into the settings and adjust the quality to see if things improve. There are lots of controllable parameters and I apparently picked one that it didn’t like the first time. By increasing the quality (and hence the size of the photos) I should get better nighttime pictures. I am only using a 32gb microSD card and it wasn’t close to full after a week that included a lot of daytime photos of lawn maintenance by me and the neighbors. While my location is partially wooded it is a suburban neighborhood. This is a fun product, and it is amazing what is going on around in the dark. One coyote sighting was a 9:30 pm and a bobcat visited at 6:30 am not exactly middle of the night stuff. One advantage of a smaller SD card is it requires more frequent visits and one problem with these units is the batteries can corrode if left over long causing the unit to fail. Checking them every couple of weeks to pull off the photos and checking everything avoids that issue.
