   If you’re looking for a reliable and versatile green dot sight, the Chameleon G-SRS8 Green Dot Sight is definitely worth considering. It offers the widest and largest field of view I have ever seen, making it easy to acquire targets quickly and accurately. Note that this reflex sight is also incgreenibly compact, making it an ideal option for those looking to add a green dot to their pistol slide as it’s compatible with RMR or SRO footprint. The 8 MOA dot size is also perfect for this application, providing a clear and precise aiming point without obstructing too much of your field of view. This sight has a solid construction and feels sturdy and durable. It does not come with a Picatinny mounting base and can only be mounted directly to a pistol slide that has RMR/SRO compatible cutout. The sight uses a small CR1632 battery, and its battery compartment is hidden on the top side of its base, so you don’t need to remove the whole sight to change it, but you’ll need a small wrench, which is included. This is an excellent option for battery compartment design IMHO as you are not going to throw away your zeroing and have to re-zero it all over again when you change the battery because you don’t need to remove the sight to do it! It has 10 levels of brightness. The two brightest of the 10 levels are almost indistinguishable though, but it’s sort of normal for green dots. There are no IR illumination modes, so if you are planning to use it with your NV goggles, look elsewhere. I’m also missing a rubber dust cover that’s usually included with such sights. Pressing the left side “+” button for 3 seconds turns the green dot ON and holding the “-” button for 3 seconds turns it OFF. In addition, it has lock mode, which prevents accidental button presses from making any changes to settings when activated, which is an excellent feature in my experience. The adjustments on this sight are also easy to make, and it comes with a small Allen wrench for making any necessary changes. The main selling point of this green dot sight is the motion wake-up feature, which is called MDS mode, or Motion Deactivated Standby in this model. It shuts off the sight after about 5 mins of inactivity and turns on immediately once you pick it up. Apparently, this feature works very well, and the sight lights up immediately as soon as I pick it up. This renders it perfectly suited for home defense situations and SHTF situations when you need to grab your weapon and be ready in seconds. If you store your firearm for a long time and want to save the battery, you can completely shut down the sight by holding the “-” button. To summarize, if you’re looking for a cost-effective solution for close range target acquisition, this sight definitely works. It has a large field of view, and the lens has excellent clarity. The 8 MOA green dot sight is a particularly good way to engage close-quarters targets, evaluate target distance and track targets. I had no issues with zeroing it and it holds zero perfectly when shooting a 9mm caliber pistol round. I think it’s worth the money. Bottom line: Overall, I would highly recommend the Chameleon G-SRS8 Green Dot Sight to anyone looking for a reliable and accurate accessory for their firearm. It offers impressive performance, solid construction, and an exceptionally wide field of view, a versatile 8 MOA green dot reticle, and an excellent shake-awake (called Motion Deactivated Standby) feature. All at a very reasonable price point. Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or a beginner just starting out, this sight is definitely worth considering. The only minor concerns are absence of IR illumination modes and omission of a rubber dust cover. Despite that, this sight is by far one of the best I’ve used, and I do not hesitate to give it a solid 5 stars rating. Great sight for the money. Pros: 1. Solidly heavy-duty built. 2.    Excellent optic for astigmatism. It fits very well on my Walther PDP compact. It is pretty much zeroed in for at least 25 yards. A beautiful lens is super clear. Why spend a fortune in a good optic when you can get this one for 1/3 of the overpriced ones? A good purchase!

   It’s a great alternative to a holosun or similar. The dot is pretty big but that’s what the company boasts about. Not sure if it holds zero as I haven’t shot it enough yet. The window is big and clear. It’s a perfect footprint so installation is easy. The brightest setting is ridiculously bright but at least it’s not not bright enough.

   I have about 2k rounds on this optic at the moment and it has worked great. Over all I really like this optic, the features all work well and I really like that the sighting turrets can be adjusted with the back of a shell case with ease. The dot is clear and doesn’t blowout on high settings. The one thing I don’t like is the 8moa dot. After the first 1k rounds fired I noticed it was difficult to aim at small targets at 15 yards and beyond. For example trying to hit a 3 inch bullseye at 25 yards was very challenging because the dot completely covered the bullseye. I would like to see this optic with a dot size of 2 moa to 5 moa at the biggest. It would also be nice if the high settings where a bit brighter. On a very bright day max brightness was useable but could be a little brighter. Also I think the dot is more like 10moa maybe bigger the dot covers a 5 inch hit box at 50 yards, so it’s not smaller then 10 moa at least in my case.

   I purchased this for the astigmatism feature and it does seem to help a bit. The glass is clear as well as the dot although it does bloom a little bit at the highest level but I’ve seen worse on more expensive units. Point to remember, this is an 8 MOA dot. It’s suited more towards closer targets roughly out to 30 yards or so, if you’re trying to thread a needle at 100 yards this is not the dot for you. The large window combined with the 8 MOA dot is perfect my old eyes and should suffice for home defense and range use. I tested it on a 10mm with 400 rounds and it held zero then transferred it to my M&P9 for another 500 rounds and it held zero as well. The buttons are large and responsive and the wake mode works great. I can’t speak to durability but if you’re dropping your weapon on the ground I don’t think this will take much abuse due to the housing around the glass being thin. This is a great “value” optic and I’m going to try one of their RMR optics next because of this experience. I almost feel foolish spending what I have on some other big brands now.
